Modelling the Space Debris Evolution : Two New Computer
نویسندگان
چکیده
Two computer codes to simulate the long term evolution (100 years) of the Earth orbiting debris have been developed under a contract of the Euro-pean Space Agency. In one of them, called Semi Deterministic Model (SDM), the goal was to accurately follow the orbital evolution of the population, so that each large object (and a sample of the small particles) is individually propagated with a semi-analytical orbit predictor. In the other one, called STochastic Analog Tool (STAT), the population is divided in a large number of mass, eccentricity and semi-major axis bins and we follow the evolution of the number of objects in each bin, with the advantage of a reduced CPU time consumption. Explosions, collisions, launches and active retrievals are accurately simulated with common models developed for both the codes. A large number of options in the input les permit the simulation of many long term scenarios, with diierent launch policies, explosion rates and retrievals strategies, to study the outcome of possible mitigation measures. The paper presents a description of the programs.

Modelling the evolution of the space debris population
The current space activities are already disturbed and jeopardized by the growing number of orbiting debris. Those planned for the near future, such as the launch of large satellite constellations and the construction of the international space station, are even more sensitive to the evolution of the space environment. Therefore, a clear picture of the present situation in Earth orbit and its f...
متن کاملLong Term Evolution of the Space Debris Population
In the last few years two diierent computer models have been developed in Pisa to study the evolution of the debris population. With them it is possible to simulate diierent scenarios for the future launch policies. We have deened a reference case which is a reasonable forecasting of the future space activities. Based upon it we have performed a number of simulations to study the innuence of th...
متن کاملControl of Wheeled Mobile Manipulators with Flexible Suspension Considering Wheels Slip Effects
Wheeled mobile manipulators utilize both the locomotion capabilities of the wheeled platform and manipulation capacity of the arm. While the modelling and control of such systems have previously been studied, most of them have considered robots with rigid suspension and their wheels are subject to pure rolling conditions. To relax the aforementioned limiting assumptions, this research addresses...
متن کاملOn Feasibility of Adaptive Level Hardware Evolution for Emergent Fault Tolerant Communication
A permanent physical fault in communication lines usually leads to a failure. The feasibility of evolution of a self organized communication is studied in this paper to defeat this problem. In this case a communication protocol may emerge between blocks and also can adapt itself to environmental changes like physical faults and defects. In spite of faults, blocks may continue to function since ...
متن کاملA Deterministic Multiple Key Space Scheme for Wireless Sensor Networks via Combinatorial Designs
The establishing of a pairwise key between two nodes for encryption in a wireless sensor network is a challenging issue. To do this, we propose a new deterministic key pre-distribution scheme which has modified the multiple key space scheme (MKSS). In the MKSS, the authors define two random parameters to make better resilience than existing schemes. Instead of a random selection of these parame...
